The personal dashboard

The Dashboard is the main entry point to all functions and features of the education portal. At the top, you'll find the latest news, followed by your Personal area and a section for each educational organization you are associated with. Depending on your role and the organization's configuration, you will see different Widgets .

More

The widget "Organization"

The widget Organization provides all information on the organization.

More

Note: The widget "Organization" is used to configure the most important functions relevant to the organization.

Set up the education portal

Base data

The organization master data is displayed in the Base data option of the Organization widget. The data of all Austrian schools is imported from the central register schulen-online. The data of education directorates, teacher training colleges and Austrian schools abroad is maintained directly in the education portal.

More

Tip: In the case that the name of the school stored in schulen-online is not meaningful (e.g. "Volksschule" or "Mittelschule"), school directorates can adapt the name.

Features

Principals can decide which features should be available in their organisation. Activate the toggle to the right of the feature you would like to make available for the users of your organisation.

More

News

The education portal offers the option of creating your own news articles and publishing them for specific target groups (e.g. news only for teachers, only for parents/guardians, ...)

To avoid having to maintain news articles twice in addition to any school homepage, an external RSS feed can be subscribed. Most CMS systems (Typo3, Wordpress, Joomla, ...) have a corresponding function and can therefore be easily integrated into the education portal. The school then has no more work to do.

Manage RSS feeds

If you have a website on which you publish news regularly, you can use RSS to automatically display your news from the website also in the education portal.

More

Managing static links

You can provide a list to websites and web-applications for your school's users. This list of static links will be displayed on the user's dashboard in a separate widget Static Links. You can provide specific lists depending on the user's role in the school i.e. for students, teachers, legal guardians and headmasters.

More

Applications

The principal and education portal admin can make applications available in the Applications widget on the dashboard for individual users or groups (e. g. all pupils, all teachers, etc.). Single Singn On (SSO) for the corresponding application is then available for these users and associated widgets are also displayed on the users' dashboards.
Please note that access to some applications is also managed centrally by the Federal Ministry of Education.

Assign roles

The principal has all school management capabilities per default. However, he/she can assign different roles to the staff, so that one team is responsible for news, another is responsible for managing pictures and so on. The following roles can be assigned:

  • Applications
  • Affiliations
  • Eduportal-Admin
  • Features
  • Official signatures & dual delivery
  • Links
  • News
  • Photos
More

Custom Affiliations

With the custom Affiliations feature, principals and authorized employees can assign any person a role at the school, provided that this person cannot be imported automatically from one of the upstream systems of the education portal. Before using this feature, please check that the person cannot be created and assigned to your school automatically and that there is no problem with the data synchronization. If in doubt, please contact Our support team before using this feature.
